Congresswoman Trahan knows that the United States is a nation of immigrants, and that the Massachusetts Third has been especially enriched by immigrants who have located here from around the globe. The granddaughter of immigrants herself, Trahan believes we must reject nativism and instead pursue just and compassionate immigration laws.

American Dream and Promise Act

On March 18th, 2021, Congresswoman Trahan voted to pass H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, which she was an original cosponsor of, and H.R. 1603, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. These two long overdue pieces of legislation would modernize and reform America’s immigration system and secure permanent protections and a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who have been, and will continue to be, key to the economic recovery of the nation.

Accountability for Migrant Deaths Act

On July 7, 2019, Congresswoman Trahan introduced the Accountability for Migrant Deaths Act, which requires that Congress be notified within 24 hours of a migrant dying while in US custody and mandates a congressional hearing – at which an appropriate Administration official would testify – within a week of such notification.
