Congresswoman Lori Trahan Hosts Local Lawmakers at Luncheon Forum

Lowell, MA – Yesterday, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (D-MA-03) hosted state lawmakers from around Massachusetts’ Third Congressional District for a luncheon forum to discuss issues facing the district’s 37 cities and towns. Rep. Trahan also provided an update on her work in Congress, and how she is positioning herself to be a partner to the community in Washington, DC.

“I am grateful to all of my state partners who participated in this discussion. Massachusetts’ Third Congressional District is comprised of a diverse and exciting region of our Commonwealth, and no one can attest to that better than the elected officials present. When I was elected in November, I was elected to represent each one of the 37 cities and towns across the district, and that is exactly what I’ve been doing,” said Rep. Trahan. “By working in concert with our local leaders and representatives on Beacon Hill, there’s not a problem we cannot address on behalf of those we represent. Everything from education and vocational school funding, resources to address sewer overflow and other infrastructure needs, river preservation and cleanup, and transportation are all areas where we can make meaningful progress. I look forward to our continued collaboration to build an inclusive, thriving economy for every single member of our region.”

The luncheon forum was attended by 16 Massachusetts State Representatives and Senators or their designees, including: Senators Ed Kennedy, Diana DiZoglio, and Dean Tran and Representatives Lenny Mirra, Linda Dean Campbell, Tram Nguyen, David Nangle, Rady Mom, Jim Arciero, Jen Benson, Stephan Hay, Kate Hogan, Carmine Gentile, Marcos Devers, Hank Naughton, and Colleen Garry.

In addition to today’s event, Rep. Trahan has been meeting with mayors, selectmen and town officials across the District and state. She recently toured Hudson, Marlborough, Fitchburg, and Gardner to see first-hand the economic development efforts underway in these communities. To date, Rep. Trahan has visited more than half the towns and communities in the district -- 19 out 37.
