Congresswoman Lori Trahan Announces 2019 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Lori Trahan (D-MA-03) today announced the opening of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition. This competition is open to high school students from across Massachusetts’ 3rd Congressional District.

Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol. In addition, the winner will be invited to a celebratory reception in Washington D.C. on June 24, 2019.

"This competition is the perfect venue to showcase the importance of recognizing the creative arts in the lives of our students and encourage them to participate in artistic endeavors whenever possible," said Rep. Trahan.  “I am proud to continue this special tradition of celebrating young artists across our district, our Commonwealth, and the entire United States. I look forward to seeing the submissions we receive.”
