Trahan Statement on Senate Republicans Once Again Blocking Legislation to Codify IVF Access

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03), who underwent in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment to overcome fertility challenges, issued the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked passage of the Right to IVF Act, legislation that would codify women and couples’ access to IVF:

“While millions of couples are living in fear of IVF and other fertility treatments being ripped away from them because of extreme Republican abortion bans, GOP members in both chambers are introducing toothless resolutions and signing vague statements that help no one. Yet, every time they’re given an opportunity to vote to uphold IVF access, they vote no. Republicans proved once again today that when it comes to protecting IVF, they’re all talk, no action.”

“House Democrats are prepared to do what Republicans have failed to for months – vote unanimously to codify access to life-creating IVF and fertility treatments for every woman in America. We won’t let the American people forget who’s jeopardizing IVF access.
