LOWELL, MA – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) issued the following statement after the federal indictment of former President Donald Trump was unsealed:

“The indictment against former President Donald Trump represents the culmination of a thorough, impartial investigation led by a highly accredited team of nonpartisan prosecutors. The findings as laid out in the charging document imply a stunning lack of responsibility by the former president at best, and a malicious intent to violate our nation’s laws by jeopardizing highly classified information at worst.”

“Either way, that answer is not for elected officials or pundits to decide, but rather a court of law where Donald Trump will have every right to defend himself, as the Constitution demands. Moving forward, it is imperative that those in positions of power refrain from attempts to politicize, interfere, or obstruct this ongoing judicial proceeding, so the American people can trust that the rule of law will prevail at the end of the day.”
