Congresswoman Lori Trahan Named to House Armed Services Committee Subcommittees

Washington, DC -- Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (D-MA-03)  was named to the Subcommittees for Intelligence, Emerging Threats & Capabilities, and Military Personnel of the House Armed Services Committee.

“Today’s subcommittee assignments reflect my top priorities as a member of the House Armed Services Committee - ensuring modernization of cyber capabilities and putting our servicemembers first. Massachusetts’ 3rd Congressional District has long been a hub of military technology and innovation. I look forward to mobilizing the resources and expertise in our community for the broader work of the Intelligence, Emerging Threats & Capabilities Subcommittee. I am also humbled to be in a position to advocate for US servicemembers from my seat on the Military Personnel Subcommittee. Those who wear the uniform represent the best and the brightest America has to offer. I look forward to fighting to make sure they are taken care of both at home and abroad. That includes transgender servicemembers who are, sadly, under attack by the current administration,” said Rep. Trahan.

The Subcommittee on Intelligence, Emerging Threats, & Capabilities is responsible for overseeing defense-wide and joint enabling activities and programs including: Special Operations Forces; counter-proliferation and counter-terrorism programs and initiatives; science and technology policy and programs; information technology programs; homeland defense and Department of Defense related consequence management programs; related intelligence support; and other enabling programs and activities to include cyber operations, strategic communications, and information operations.

The Subcommittee on Military Personnel is charged with military personnel policy, health care, education, and POW/MIA issues. In addition, they are also responsible for servicemember  morale and welfare issues and programs.
