LOWELL, MA – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) issued the following statement after President Joe Biden announced the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court:

“Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s extensive qualifications to serve on the Supreme Court are beyond reproach. As a public defender, the Vice Chair of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, and a federal judge, she has never wavered in her commitment to protecting the rights we cherish as Americans and upholding the rule of law.”

“As a Supreme Court Justice, she will continue her illustrious career of public service while making history as the first Black woman and the first public defender on our nation’s highest court. I look forward to the thorough, expeditious consideration of Judge Jackson’s nomination and her historic confirmation by members of the Senate.”
