Trahan announces $3.9 million grant for Fitchburg’s Community Health Connections

LOWELL — Congresswoman Lori Trahan announced Friday that the Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $3,896,605 in federal funding for Fitchburg’s Community Health Connections Inc..

“For the past twenty years, Community Health Connections has provided the Greater Fitchburg region with exemplary care. This new federal investment is crucial in supporting the daily efforts of nurses, doctors, and support staff who work tirelessly on behalf of their patients. As a strong supporter of community health centers, I will continue to advocate for additional funding so that Community Health Connections and each of our health centers have the resources necessary to meet the needs of their patients and their communities,” Trahan said.

“Community Health Connections is gratified that the federal government continues to support the ongoing operations that enable us to serve those in need of health care in the region. Without federal support, we would be unable to reach the most vulnerable populations in our communities,” said John DeMalia, president and CEO of Community Health Connections.

Also recently, to further support the work of community health centers in the Third District, Trahan announced more than $2.7 million of federal American Rescue Plan funding was being awarded to facilities in Fitchburg, Lowell and Lawrence. Community Health Connections Inc. received $772,184 of that funding.
