Trahan Statement on St. Vincent Nurses Vote

LOWELL, MA – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee, issued the following statement after the nurses at St. Vincent Hospital overwhelmingly voted to ratify their new contract and end the longest nurses strike in Massachusetts’ history:

“Tonight’s vote is an historic victory for the heroic nurses at St. Vincent who refused to budge until they secured the protections and staffing conditions their patients deserve. They wanted nothing more than to return to work for months, and they risked their livelihoods on the picket line each day to achieve that goal.”

“These nurses’ steadfast commitment to their patients will continue to be an inspiration. It’s also the reason that the support from their community, their union, their labor brothers and sisters, and so many of us across the Commonwealth never wavered.”
