Trahan Statement on the 20th Anniversary of the September 11th Terror Attacks

LOWELL, MA – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) issued the following statement on the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks:

“20 years ago today, 2,996 lives were cut short by those who sought to divide us — but they failed. Rather than tearing us apart, the September 11th attacks brought us together, united by what it means to be American and by the thousands of heroic firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and everyday people who worked around the clock to save as many people as possible. Many of those heroes gave their lives during perilous rescue missions, and many more suffered long-term effects from their selfless efforts that ensured countless others could live.”

“It falls to each of us to share with future generations the stories of those heroes that we all know so well. The stories of those who persisted through unimaginable conditions to rescue as many people as they could, as well as the families who have endured so much pain, but continue to honor the memories of lost loved ones.”

“Today, we recommit ourselves to the promise we made as a nation in the wake of the attacks – to never forget the lives lost and always honor the sacrifices made by so many.”
