Trahan Statement on Passage of the Budget Resolution

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) issued the following statement after passage of the budget resolution:

“Today’s vote on the budget resolution moves us one step closer to passage of key parts of President Biden’s agenda, including the American Families Plan. That means we’re one step closer to historic investments that will combat the climate crisis, ensure access to affordable child care for every working family, guarantee paid family and medical leave so workers don’t have to choose between their loved ones’ lives and their livelihoods, mandate an extension of the strengthened Child Tax Credit, and so much more.”

“As we work to defeat this pandemic, we cannot allow things to go back to the way they were before, because that wasn’t working for most folks. When I pledged to work alongside this administration to build back better, that was a promise to families like the one I grew up in – ones where parents can’t afford to miss a day of work or a trip to the hospital.”

“For generations, the scales have been tipped against hardworking Americans who simply want a better life for their children. The American Families Plan is key in delivering that, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to craft and pass that legislation in the weeks ahead.”
