LOWELL, MA – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) issued the following statement regarding the passing of Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (FL-20):

"Congressman Hastings was a giant in Congress, in Florida politics, and in the lives of his family and friends. I’m heartbroken to learn of his passing, and my prayers go out to his loving wife, Patricia, and his three children during this difficult time. Alcee will be remembered for his ardent civil rights advocacy, his unending pursuit of equality for all Americans regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation, his determination to go toe-to-toe to defend his beliefs, and most notably, his compassion for his colleagues and those around him.”
