Trahan Statement on President Biden’s Endorsement of National Apprenticeship Act

LOWELL, MA -- Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) issued the following statement following the White House’s announcement that President Joe Biden has endorsed the National Apprenticeship Act of 2021, which includes Trahan’s legislation to provide grants to small- and medium-sized businesses to incentivize their workers’ participation in the national apprenticeship system:

“Getting the National Apprenticeship Act of 2021 signed into law must be one of our top priorities as we work to jumpstart our economy and build back better. That’s why the House took up and passed this landmark legislation earlier this month, and it’s why President Biden has voiced his unequivocal support for the Senate to do the same.”

“Registered apprenticeships continue to be hands down the most successful established federal workforce program. With a 94 percent employment rate upon completion of an apprenticeship, they are one of the best ways to get folks back to work in high quality, good paying jobs that will support them and their families.”

“The National Apprenticeship Act of 2021 will make these tested and proven opportunities accessible to millions of American workers and jumpstart our economy in the process. I’m particularly thrilled that the President’s support includes that of my provision to ensure that workers at small- and medium-sized businesses will have greater access to lucrative apprenticeships.”
