Congresswoman Trahan Announces Nearly $3.3 Million Returned to MA-03 Constituents since January 2019

Trahan & Her Office Have Returned Backlogged Payments & Benefits Owed to MA-03 by Federal Agencies, including in Coronavirus Relief Programs

LOWELL, MA - Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) announced that she and her team have returned $3,274,550 to residents of Massachusetts’ Third Congressional District struggling to access federal benefits and payments. Trahan made constituent service excellence a main tenet of her first term in office, and she and her staff have been working around the clock during the coronavirus pandemic to ensure that constituents also have access to the federal relief they need to stay afloat.

“When I took my oath of office last January, I did so with the determination to work every day to improve the lives of the people I’m so privileged to serve. I recruited a talented team that shares that same mission, and because of them, we have been able to cut through the red tape and deliver for hardworking families across Massachusetts’ Third Congressional District. As we continue to navigate uncertain times, we want everyone to know that our office is always here to help,” said Congresswoman Trahan.

Trahan’s office has returned federal money owed to constituents by working with them to resolve cases including:

  • Department of Veterans Affairs: $156,741
  • Department of Defense: $122,862
  • Social Security Administration: $47,360
  • Internal Revenue Service: $16,887

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Trahan has supported legislation to deliver nearly $3 trillion in relief to working families and small businesses. Many of these programs were brand new or unaccustomed to the overwhelming influx of people seeking aid. Trahan’s team has worked with constituents to navigate:

  • Unemployment programs: $434,700
  • Relief to small businesses and workers: $2,496,000

Trahan’s office remains a resource for constituents in need of assistance. Anyone in need of help can submit their request online by clicking HERE, on the phone at 978-459-0101, or by email at Rep.LoriTrahan@mail.house.gov
